Well Ladies, it's that time of year that I start planning out our troop's year end Court of Awards ceremony. I like to save the last couple badges the girls earned for their ceremony along with our Cookie Awards. We try and make this day as special as we can as we close the year. 

As part of this year's planning I am in the process of creating a themed printable set for the party. Right now I just have the troop banner. Time has gotten away from me creating the whole set... which will probably wait until next year. But for now, I leave you with this....

Daisy Girl Scout troop Necklaces

Hey Leader Friends!

So to be perfectly honest, I'm not a fan of leaders giving out end of the year gifts and I totally think it should be the other other way around but I really couldn't resist these! lol

The idea is pretty simple and affordable. It could also be used as a jewelry making badge if you have the girls make their own! 

Materials

• roll of ball chain with clamps
• Blank bottle caps w/jump rings attached ( I used 5/8" mini bottle caps from Hobby Lobby)
• E6000
• bottle cap image/Printable
• photopaper
• Magic dimensions

Optional:

• dangle beads (Hobby Lobby) and stampable plates

1) Print and Cut out your 16mm (diameter) printable circles. 

Print out your image on photo paper. Regular paper will not work and it will get wet. If you have a circle punch small enough for this that would be idea but I used scissors. Use E6000 to adhere your printable to the bottle cap. You can also use rubber cement but I find that E6000 works the best. Allow it to dry. It can take a couple hours. If you are doing it with a troop and are pressed for time you can use rubber cement but make sure you don't get it on the front facing image.

2) Apply Magic Dimensions

Word of advice, dispense a small amount of the dimensions goo on a piece of paper first to avoid air bubbles. Start in the center of the cap and in a circular motion fill the entire bottle cap. If you go a little over that is okay. When the dimensions goo dries, it sinks a bit. Use a tooth pic to get out any air bubbles... if you see below, the air bubbles will dry like air bubbles so get them out. Allow this to dry for 3 hours or overnight.

3) Assemble your necklace

If you purchased the bottle caps that already have the punch with the jump rings then this will be easy. You can cut your ball and chain cord to the desirable length your girl prefers. I recommend 18 inches long. Attach your connectors and voila! 

If you want to go an extra step, you can add colored dangle beads link in the picture below. If you have a stamping set, they you can also add initial plate charms too.

A Baptism for Penelope

This past weekend we had our newest little angel baptized! Baptisms always get me teary eyed! They are so beautiful and such a joyous celebration! We were also fortunate enough to have some very special out of town guests come in that we haven't seen in years! 

All of my kids have been baptized in this same gown that has been passed on    from 3 generations on my father's side of the family. My father was baptized in this gown and I was, too. As you can see, it looks a little antique so I wanted a headpiece to match! My dear friend, Denise, made this lovely little floral headpiece with the birdcage. You should check out her shop, Wonderland Bowtique. She also made these adorable purple rosette sandals! Perhaps I need a separate post on her attire for the day. The lace romper in the above picture was purchased on Amazon for only $12.99.

Preparations started about 2 months in advance. I didn't want to end up stressing myself out at the last minute like I always do. The theme was a lavender/plum and Champagne(gold/silver). I really do love the way the colors looked together!

I made all the printables myself including invitations, envelope liners, bible verses, and thank you notes. I bought the white candles in a jar from the Dollar Tree and dipped the rims in a champagne gold paint.

Final product!!! This was my first experience making a naked cake and I think it turned out rather well! I would recommend giving it a try. It's super easy and looks great, plus, you don't have to spend too much time perfecting it because it's not completely frosted!  I used a 9 in round baking pan with white boxed cake and purple food coloring.The centerpiece is fake! I used silk flowers and a styrofoam half sphere to put it together. This is one of my favorite tricks! I even did this for my wedding cake years ago.

I've been in love with making these tissue tassel garlands, lately. This was my first try with the mylar tissue. I used the Martha Stewart fringe cutter, but I still have mixed feelings about the thing. It doesn't cut as well as you would expect it to, which makes me angry, MARTHA! But, I still like if for a general guide.

I really fell in love with this invitation. I love creating my own. I purchased the rose graphics from an artist on Etsy. Making your own invitations is really easy and you can use something as simple as Microsoft Publisher. You don't really need the fancy Adobe Photoshop, although it's nice when editing photos. I printed out my own invites on a fancy card stock and they look very professional, especially with the envelop liner. If you are doing invitations yourself, spend the extra money on the nice paper. I did a tutorial on the envelope liners here: Jazz up your invites.

Baptisms are so beautiful!!! Gosh, I'm getting teary eyed again.....

DIY Digital Snow White Invitations

For some reason I am the worst person at sending out physical invitations and thank you's.

Some people do it so well but for me, I always have to resort to an email, facebook event or evite.

I go through the trouble of creating this wonderful invitation on publisher and then... opps!! It's past that acceptable deadline to send them out and now I need something like right now!

Here is the Snow white Printable invitation I did created for my little one's birthday. Perhaps, I will share on Google docs or maybe put it up on Etsy? Let me know what you think I should do:)

DIY TinkerBell Invitations

Well if you couldn't have already guessed it.... Bella's birthday party theme is....

Tinkerbell and a Neverland Party!!!

Peter Pan is one of her favorite movies and I knew how much she would love a Tink party! I am generally not a person to purchase anything I can do myself. When it comes to invitations, I always like to create them myself. Microsoft Publisher is a great tool and I have managed navigate through it fairly easily. So I came up with this design! What do you think?

It was pretty easy to create and there are many free graphics out there if you know where to search. As long as your not selling and they are for personal use, you should be okay with using free graphics! The key is searching for a PNG graphic.
