Bella's Tangled Party

I'm one of those amateur party planners. I see all these pretty party planning blogs and websites and I'm like a kid in the candy store. Perhaps, if I had an endless budget and all the time in the world to plan, I could accomplish one of those parties one day. For now, I like to dabble in planning my kids parties....

My girl has been obsessed with The Tangled movie since it came out and I have been excited to plan this one for a couple years! Last year, we threw her a Tinkerbell Neverland party. Mainly for the fact that, when I asked her what kind of party she wanted, Tinkerbell was the first thing to leave her mouth. Little did I know she would change her mind the next week, but I was committed to the idea once I started planning. This happens with little kids, don't you know? They change their mind on the last thing they can remember.

Pin the nose on Flynn Rider

. I had the kids draw their own noses on a separate sheet of paper. They all had a similar concept, that a nose resembled a pig nose.

Sneek Peak: Tangled Party Invitation

Here is a preview of some exciting Tangled Birthday Party goodness!!! I created these invites myself with the Rapunzel graphic I purchased here. It's so easy to create your own digi invites!

You can also purchase backgrounds, frames and fonts to make your invitations unique and custom!

If you don't have the fancy Adobe Illustrator or any CS6, you can simply use Microsoft Publisher, which should be included in a Microsoft Office package you probably purchased with your computer.

I am thinking about writing a post for a step by step on how to create your own digital invites. Is this something you all would be interested? Email me if you have any questions on this!

Party Planning 101: Invitations

The very first impression you are giving your guest of your upcoming event is the invitation. I don't think people realize this, maybe the fine details of entertaining don't really matter much to you. Either way, an invitation of some kind is always extended.

So... Why send out an invitation?

Guests
Are one of the most important parts of entertaining. Whether it's the guest of honor or the attendees, you want them to be excited and feel special.

Before you send out the invite....
Make sure you have an idea of the type of party you want and a general theme. I know, some people hate themes but it not only adds some cohesiveness to the part, it prevents the who shindig from being a big confetti mess.

Email: This is very informal.

Evite: Convenient to keep track of R.S.V.P's but I've seen many missed and taken for spam. Some don't even get delivered to the inbox.

Facebook invite: These one's are hard because not everyone has or checks their Facebook account.

Neverland - Tinkerbell Party and Marshmallow Fondant!

Oh my gosh!!! Did you know that you can melt marshmallow? Did you know that when you mix it with powdered sugar it forms a dough like frosting... similar to how you would kneed pizza dough?!?!? I think I have found the easiest thing yet to decorate my birthday cakes and I am super excited to share with you!

What you need

A bag of mini marshmallows

food coloring or frosting coloring

powdered sugar

This recipe is pretty simple. I took half a bag of the mini marshmallows sprinkled with some water to coat and tossed. Then I microwaved the bowl for two sets of 45 seconds, stirring in between.

I added a cup of powdered sugar to the mix and then poured in out on a bed of powdered sugar.

This gets messy!!!!

Note:

I recommend adding in the frosting coloring while it's in the liquid stage. I didn't do this the first time and I wasn't fun!

I'm sorry for some of the blurry photos. the Hubby was on camera duty!!

This is the Tinkerbell Cake that I created from the Wilton Doll pan.

I created this Pixie Hollow sign from Dollar Tree flowers, foam letters and wreath!! This is now hanging in her room over her bed! I love reusing party decorations!

The flower pot was also created with materials from the Dollar Tree. I made three of them and placed them through out the party as center pieces!

Party favors include a pirate theme for the boy's (hook, tatoos, lost boys treasure) and a fairy spa theme for the girls (pixie dust, mini nail polish, mini nail kit, fairy rings). Everyone went home with their own Peter Pan story book!

I had Bella help me with painting the treasure chest!! I found this one at Michael's for $15.

I really wanted to create a pirate ship carved out of watermelon .. but they are not in season this time of year. So I created this pirate fruit bowl with a sail.

Bella couldn't wait to try out her new bike.

And after the guests left.... They had to put blocks on the pedals because her legs are too short!!

Birthday Budget Challenge!!!

Early Birthday planning as usual... this one is for my most recent child's FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!!!! I am so excited to have another child to plan parties for.. I have been drumming my head about the theme for some time.... and bam it hit me ELMO!! The only character to make her burst out giggling just from a balloon.

So with the exciting events from this summer.. wedding, parties...ect and the upcoming vacations to Arizona in November and Walt Disney World in January, I need to set a budget and find some alternate methods of creating a stylish party.

The Budget: $100.00!!!!! Wow this might be tough!

Of course, turning to my trusty Pinterest, I was able to search for some budget friendly was of incorporating some decoration into the plans. I shall take these into consideration.....
